Where to find more information
This brochure comes in addition to the 'Admission to Isala' brochure. We have also uploaded a range of information to MijnIsala for you.
Please also carefully read the following ahead of your operation:
Letter on the medication you are using (navigate to My Record (Dossier), then to Letters (Brieven).
On top of that, we have also uploaded one of the following brochures for you:
Care after being admitted to hospital
If you need any care once you return home after your operation or admission, please contact your home care organisation in advance. The nurse will discuss this with you during your preoperative screening. They will also discuss exactly what you require, so that your aftercare is all arranged prior to your operation or admission.
Please also read the 'Care after being admitted to hospital' brochure. This will tell you which care Isala will arrange, and what you can do yourself.
You must not eat or drink anything before your operation. Our 'No food or drink before your operation' will run you through the rules. Please read this brochure carefully. It is important that you follow the rules. If you fail to do so, life-threatening situations may occur during your operation.
Important:
Please stick to the rules at all times! If you fail to do so, we will not be able to go ahead with your operation.
If you are taking any medicines, you will have a conversation with the anaesthetist on whether you can continue to take these or whether you need to stop for the time being. The agreements you have made about this can be found in the letter about your medicines. You can see this letter in MijnIsala > My Record (Dossier) > Letters (Brieven).
Has your health or medication changed?
Shortly before your operation, we will check whether there have been any changes in your health or medication.
Always bring your medication in its original packaging.
If you are taking blood thinners
You may need to stop taking any blood thinners a few days before your operation. Your anaesthetist or the Thrombosis department will tell you when to stop taking your blood thinners, and when you can start taking them again.
Please take care of your personal hygiene to reduce the risk of infection. We ask that you bear in mind the following:
